Compass, formally Urban Compass, was founded in 2012 by Ori Allon and Robert Reffkin. The company has not officially endorsed a plan to participate in an IPO.

Compass operates a real estate platform that enables real estate agents to deliver high-quality service to buyers and sellers. The company has raised $1.6 billion in Venture Capital funding from investors including Dragoneer Investment Group, Fission Ventures, Softbank, Qatar Investment Authority, Spike Ventures, Fidelity Investments, IVP, Wellington Capital Management, Sinai Ventures, .406 Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Prudence Holdings, Founders Club, and Thrive Capital. It has been widely reported that Compass last raised $370 million in July 2019 at a post-money valuation of $6.4 billion.
