Sila inks supply deal with Panasonic for its breakthrough battery material
One such company, Sila, today said it has signed a deal to supply Panasonic with its Titan Silicon anode material. Production will happen at Sila’s future Moses Lake facility, where the startup recently broke ground. The supply agreement marks a significant milestone for the 13-year-old company, which has raised over $900 million to date, not including a $100 million Department of Energy grant announced in October 2022 that was earmarked for scaling up manufacturing.
Sila Nano-Composite Silicon Anode Increases Range & Reduces Charging Times
We first reported on Sila Nanotechnologies last May when the company announced it was beginning to produce its innovative silicon anode batteries at a factory in Moses Lake, Washington. Now almost a year later, the company says it expects to begin mass production in the second half of 2024 and will manufacture enough batteries to power one million vehicles over the next 5 years.
