ByteDance was founded in 2012 by Zhang Yiming. The company has not officially endorsed a plan to participate in an IPO.

ByteDance is a China-based mobile application developer responsible for wildly popular apps including Toutiao and TikTok. The company has raised over $6 billion in Venture Capital funding from investors including Alpha Square Group, Base Partners, New Enterprise Associates, Softbank Group, TCV, Ether Capital, General Atlantic, GGV, Sky9 Capital, Sequoia Capital, Source Code Capital, Susquehanna, and Morningside Venture Capital. It has been widely reported that ByteDance last raised $3 billion in October 2018 at a post-money valuation of $75 billion.
